Just Outside Your Door

Hi everyone, hope everything is going perfect! All good on this end.

We have our fingers crossed about the rain forecast this weekend, supposed to be 1 inch or better. We need it desperately, even though it will take any outdoor weekend plans away.

90% of aerating, seeding, fertilizer & compost is completed. Just a few larger properties left! We have properties that were done mid-month germinate already, super good sign. The products/materials this season were purchased and delivered again without a hitch. Thank goodness, it can really make September (one of our busiest months of the year) even more stressful.

Diesel & Gasoline — Pretty proud of itself right now. We have only 1 diesel truck left, thankfully it does not go out on a daily basis. We used to have three that did go out daily. Gasoline: We squeeze as much MPG and route crews as efficiently as possible, the guys are great about it. We utilize the electric and propane mowers wherever possible. Hopefully this situation comes to an end soon.

6-Step Fertilization Program — We got started on the aeration, seeding, starter fert, and compost right on time September 14th. This is probably the hardest physical work we do during the year. 5,000 lbs. of seed, 8,000 lbs. of fert, and this year 90,000 lbs. of compost will be spread when finished. We have the most labor effective equipment but gosh it is a lot of work, sweat and tears!

We are using a colored seed as in past years — when the seed is wet enough it germinates, if not, we can see that it needs more moisture. No such thing as over watering now.

Winterizer is the next application in November.
